dVentus is expecting a deal with Ethiopian Electric Utility to supply smart electric meters soon, as they are currently waiting on the Utility to give them the green light.
dVentus introduced its smart electric meters along with a distribution automation system this year in May. The renewable technology company held a workshop on Tuesday July 8th at Capital Hotel where representatives from different governmental institutions such as the Ethiopian Electric Utility, Ministry of Water, Irrigation and Energy, were present.
The workshop titled “Smart Grid and Distribution Management” focused on creating awareness on smart grid systems, implementation lessons from other utility experiences as well as demonstrating dVentus’ smart electric meters and a distribution automation system.
The company stated that its smart meter will ensure reliable and efficient energy supply, accuracy in billing and tariff management, saving in distribution cost and revenue increment as well as in improving the customer service system of the utility.
Once dVentus’ deal with Ethiopian Electric Utility is signed off, the smart electric meters are expected to replace the current postpaid meters installed on many houses in Addis.
