LG will introduce a thinner, lighter and more energy efficient OLED television to Ethiopia this October.
Yong Geun Choi, the LG Electronics representative in Ethiopia said that the new television is superior to any other in terms of color expression, contrast ratio and viewing.
OLED TV follows the introduction of the world’s first 84-inch Ultra HD TV in 2012 and compliments LG core OLED TV family’s unique design with its 4.3mm thin design at just 17 kg and a crystal stand incorporated in its forward-facing speakers.
“It’s possible to make OLED TVs considerably thinner and lighter than LCD TVs because OLED has a simple structure and requires no additional illuminant,” said Geun.
“If yield rates continue to rise, OLED TVs will quickly replace LCD TVs in living rooms around the world. OLED TVs are already better than LCD TVs in terms of picture quality and will soon be more cost effective to produce as well,” he concluded.
First showcased at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2013, the newly-launched OLED TV was first released in the company’s homeland – South Korea with a subsequent launch in the US, Germany, United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia and South Africa.
