Looking forward to one of those weekends where you get to relax in a beautiful garden with an amazing selection of performers? Lucky for you Selam Festival Addis (SFA) is just around the corner. The forth edition of the festival is scheduled to be held on January 17th and 18th at the Floral Tropical Gardens.
The festival has lined up an impressive list of musicians from Africa, Europe and of course Ethiopia to entertain music lovers.
At a press conference held by Selam Ethiopia on Thursday December 11, Teshome Wondimu, Founder and Director of Selam stated that SFA which is Selam’s flagship event is geared toward increasing Ethiopia’s capacity in hosting major festivals.
“We see Selam Festival Addis growing to become the largest in Africa. Besides entertaining music lovers the festival is geared towards raising capacities, providing expert exchange, opening forums for discussions and also allowing opportunities for collaborations,” he said.
For those of you looking forward to seeing your favorite local artists, the lineup includes Samuel Yirga, Micheal Belayneh, Abel Mulugeta, Helen Berhe, Tsegaye Eshetu, Tadele Gemechu and then of course Circus Ethiopian to entertain kids and adults alike.
For the taste of the outside world, a lineup of artists from Africa and around the world includes Habib Koité from Mali, Spoek Mathambo from South Africa, Gnučči and Mapei from Sweden, Jemimah Sanyu from Uganda, Sarabi from Kenya and Lexxus Legal from DRC.
According to the organizers, the two day event will be attracting some 10,000 people and will include an interactive kids zone, food and craft /artisan vendors, information booths, circus shows, a DJ party, traditional group dance from selected regions and much more.
