The Addis Ababa City Roads Authority (AACRA) signed a 830 million birr deal with five contractors and a consulting company for the construction of a 33 kilometer long asphalt road inside compounds of condominium houses.
The road project is specifically for the 40/60 housing construction areas located in Kuyae Fechu, Yeka Abadu, Tulu Dimitu and Kilinto sites. The construction is expected to take three up to six months and once completed will be instrumental to the laying of other infrastructures.
Unicon Plc has made a 406,525 birr deal with AACRA to carry out a consulting and supervising work for I.H.F Plc, a company that is currently working on constructing roads for condominiums located around Crown Hotel, Senga Terra and Debre Zite road.
The 9.2 kilometers long road that will be constructed at the project sites of 5, 6 and 7 located in Tulu Dimitu sites have been given to I.F.H Plc with an agreement of 139 million birr.
Project sites 7 and 9 located at Yeka Abadu have been given to Aser Construction for a 108.3 million birr.
Melcon Construction will be handling a 2.6 kilometer long road which will be constructed at the 6th and 8th project sites in Yeka Abadu for the amount of 73 million birr. The 6.1 kilometers road construction for site 1 and 2 in Kuyae Fechu will be carried out by Best Consulting Plc through a deal of 285 million birr.
A 3 kilometer long road project in Kilinto has been given to Homa Construction PLC with an agreement of 119.6 million birr and it is expected to be completed within three months.
Fekadu Haile, CEO of AACRA called on the selected contractors to finish the projects within the given time frames.
“When people start to move into the condominiums, they need to have a road that can provide them easy access,” he stated during the signing ceremony.
