Addis to construct alternative routes to ease traffic congestion

The Addis Ababa City Roads Authority announced it is undertaking the construction of alternative routes to ease traffic congestion in the capital with a cost of 4 billion birr.
The authority’s Head Fekade Haile stated that the projects include the road networks of Kaliti roundabout – Tulu Dimtu, Goro – Ayat, Tulu Dimtu – Lebu.
The total length of the roads under construction is 28 kms. A loan secured from the Chinese government is used to fund the projects.
Fekade added, concerted efforts are underway to ease traffic at Akaki and the first phase of the road project connecting Akaki with Lebu is scheduled to be completed this year.
Once completed the roads will significantly ease traffic congestion and facilitate travel between Addis Ababa and the southern parts of the country.
