Public high schools in Addis to provide free Wi-Fi

Public high schools in Addis Ababa will now offer their students free Wi-Fi service.
Expanding knowledge of ICT is  one of the focal areas of Ethiopia’s education policy. In line with this innovative scheme, 64 public high schools in the capital will implement the school net technology that paves the way for a Wi-Fi service.
Dilamo Otore, Head of Addis Ababa City Administration’s Education Bureau, said efforts are underway to increase the number of ICT centers in schools and improve the technology. The Wi-Fi service will give students a wider choice to access the internet  using their cell phones without going to ICT centers.
Websites that have no negative moral or ethical implications can be accessible, Otoremarked of a potential downside of the service. The service will also be available during off-class times. Teachers as well as students are expected to benefit greatly from the service.
