On Tuesday June 2nd, the Italian Cultural Institute will be a venue for an event that should not be missed; a concert by Mulatu Astatke and Enzo Favata. In this epic duo where an Italian sound meets Ethiopian jazz, both internationally renowned musicians are expected to give out an unforgettable concert in celebration of the Italian National Day.
Mulatu is a man that needs no introduction to most. His is a musician that combined jazz with Ethiopian music earning him the title “Father of Ethio-Jazz”. The man introduced instruments such as the vibraphone and conga drums to Ethiopian popular music.
His partner for Tuesday’s concert Enzo Favata is also a master at what he does. Favata started working as a musician in 1983. He, like Mulatu likes to experiment mixing jazz with different ethnic sounds from across the world.
Favata is also the director of the well known music festival Music of the Straits which takes place every summer in Santa Teresa di Gallura, Italy.
The concert that will be held at the Italian Cultural Institute on Tuesday is expected to be really good and to make things even better jazz and world music lovers get to see the show for a price of absolutely nothing!
