Dire Dawa is one of the most celebrated tourist destinations in Ethiopia having a vibrant culture and history.
If you are not familiar with this enchanting city, then you will have the chance to be acquainted through a watercolor painting exhibition opened at the Alliance Ethio-Française on June 16, 2015.
Organized by the French Embassy in Ethiopia, the Alliance Ethio-Française, the Dire Dawa city administration, and the French Center for Ethiopian Studies (CFEE), the exhibition entitled “Re-discovering Dire Dawa” features colorful paintings that show the rich, colorful culture and the timeless historical sights.
The exhibition is aimed at rediscovering Dire Dawa, also known as the Railway City of Oriental Ethiopia, through the presentation of a City Guide that was produced in 2013 by the French Centre for Ethiopian Studies (CFEE). Preparation of the guide was funded by the Administration of Dire Dawa through its tourism development project, and with the support of the French Embassy to Ethiopia.
The visual presentation of the City Guide provides a guided tour through Dire Dawa’s historical neighborhoods.
The exhibition stays open until June 30th and it is a good inspiration for those who have been dreaming about taking a trip to the small city.
