World leaders will gather in Addis Ababa from July 13-16, 2015 at the third edition of the International Conference on Financing for Development. The conference will be held with a view of launching a renewed and strengthened global partnership to finance sustainable development projects that are people-centered. The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa will host the conference, which will be organized by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs.”The conference is centered on mobilizing the means to make a difference in people’s lives. Through greater cooperation and partnership, countries will look at how they can mobilize all possible sources of financing, including domestic and international, public and private, and ensure that they are channeled for sustainable development. The resources are there but despite the significant changes in current policy, financing and investment patterns will be required to deliver the future we want,” the UN said.
The conference will feature international civil society and business forums, as well as more than 200 side events.
The conference participants’ list includes Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn, United Nations Secretary General Mr. Ban Ki-moon, World Bank Group President Mr. Jim Yong Kim, and Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Ms. Christine Lagarde. Over 50 heads of state and government, 100 ministers and 1,000 high level business representatives are also expected to be in attendance.
