Ethiopia has explicated to the representatives of Egypt and Sudan that two outlets craved near the bottom of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam will let adequate water to flow out to the two downstream countries.

The experts’ team drawn from the three countries met in Addis Ababa to discuss on the matter based on the decisions that was passed in Khartoum, Sudan.
The decision to have only two openings followed  outcomes of extensive studies that explored this as well as other issues  before the actual launching of the mega project, according to Bizuneh Tolcha, Public Relations Director at the Ministry of Water, Irrigation and Electricity.
Therefore, Ethiopia does not need to redesign the dam or increase the number of water outlets, he added.
The experts’ team will present outcomes of the meeting to their respective countries with further discussions expected in the future.
During the Khartoum meeting, Egypt requested Ethiopia to increase the number of openings to four which attracted further explanation from Ethiopia.
But Sudan had agreed on the number of the outlets.
