The seventh African Exhibition and Congress 2016 opened with a colorful ceremony attended by Dr. Mberatu Meles, State Minister of Industry and Dr. Gebregzhaber G/Mariam, State Minster of Livestock and Fisheries, who stressed the value of the poultry, diary and meat industries.
Dr. Gebreegzhaber on his opening remark said, “The government has plenty of incentives for those who interested in working and growing with us. We also encourage already established livestock producers to think big and start value addition schemes to benefit themselves and the nation at large.”
As the government moves to meet its ambitious targets for the nation’s development over the next five year period of the Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP II), the aim of such events, according to the leaders, is to foster a suitable business climate for those willing to work and invest in strategic sectors.
More than 80 local and 20 international companies engaged in animal fattening, live animal trading, meat processing, dairy production and processing, feed production, poultry farming and veterinary care are participating at the event held from January 22 to 24 at the millennium hall.
