The significant decrease in water volumes of Legedadi and Dire dams forced the Addis Ababa Water and Sewerage Authority (AAWSA) to resort into rationing water supply. According to AAWSA, parts of that city that get water from the two dams will not have water three days in a week starting from March 3.
The water level of Legedadi dam, which provides portable water to the northern part of the city, is one cubic meter lower. When it is full to its capacity, the dam contains 2,466 cubic meters above sea level. The authority advised citizens to follow dispensation schedules.
