IGAD agricultural investment plan gets green light

The IGAD Regional Agricultural Investment Plan (IGAD-RAIP) 2016-2020 has been validated by ministers of member states, on August 31, 2016. This was done after a workshop that was organized with the technical and financial support from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the African Union Commission, concluded.

The IGAD-RAIP was established to advance the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Program process as well as rationalize the progress made towards addressing food security and nutritional challenges. The plan is also aimed at ensuring collaboration with the ongoing and active regional agricultural development programs to align the 2014 Malabo Commitment on ‘Accelerated Agricultural Growth and Transformation for Shared Prosperity and Improved Livelihoods’.
