State Minister Taye receives newly appointed Ambassador of France

State Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Taye Atske-Selassie received a copy of the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador of France, Frederic Bontems, on Wednesday September 28. Their discussions focused on further enhancing political and business consultations and cooperation at the bilateral, regional and multi-lateral levels between Ethiopia and France.

Ambassador Taye noted the long-standing and excellent relations between the two countries and stressed Ethiopia would continue to work to bring their relations to the highest level possible in areas of mutual concern and cooperation.

Ambassador Frederic Bontems said France and Ethiopia had achieved close historic and political cooperation.  The French Ambassador said “France is interested in the growth and development of Ethiopia” and it looked forward to forging increased partnerships in business and investment links.

The two sides agreed that the forthcoming business forum and political consultations in Paris would develop cooperation between Ethiopia and France more closely. Ambassador Frederic Bontems invited Ethiopia to take an active role in the France-Africa Summit that will take place in Bamako in January next year.
