The eleventh Addis Ababa City Cup final takes place today bringing together
Saint George and Ethio-Electric. Saint George has won five championships while Electric has won twice.  Adama Town faces Ethiopia NegedBank for third place. The bank’s team has faced difficulty scoring lately so it should be a defensive struggle against invited Adama.
After an opening 4-1 defeat, Ethio-Electric miraculously bounced back and finished runner-up after a draw with Mekelakya and a 2-1 victory over invited guests Jimma AbaBuna. A surprising penalty shoot-out semi final win over strong Adada Town has given the The Power House an opportunity to revenge their humiliating defeat.
Saint George, under the leadership of Dutch head coach Martin Nool cruised to today’s cup final with a remarkable three wins in four matches including the semi final 2-0 victory over Ethiopia NegedBank. Spearheaded by tournament phenomenon Abubaker Sani, The Horse Men appear to have abundant fire power and should win the title today. Coming through the ranks Abubaker not only is leading the top scorer’s chart with five goals in four matches but also brings Ethiopian football fans a much needed new face.
The 3rd place play-off match today takes place between visiting Adama Town Ethiopia NegedBank, which has only scored two goals in the entire tournament. The one time champion NegedBank’s chance of winning the game lies on newly signed Nigerian striker Peter Nwandke while Adama Town will rely on their superior team work.
