Ethiopian international Getaneh received  68% of the votes as he claimed the 2015/16 Soccer Ethiopia’s Football Person of the Year in the male category. The striker with a killer instinct saw a memorable outing both for club and country. Getaneh netted 6 times in the 2017 Total African Cup of Nations group qualifying rounds while he bagged two goals in the 2018 Russia World Cup African qualifying zone. He put three past Algeria in a two legged game, likewise he showed his composure and ability to score quality goals during the Lesotho duel. Even though his former club University of Pretoria was relegated from the South African top tier, the goal poacher had relatively a better season. Geatneh received his accolade from Soccer Ethiopia’s editor Daniel Mesfin. “The award will be a motivation to me to perform better and win other accolades this season,” said Getaneh.

Loza Abera received 86% of the votes from the total votes cast by Soccer Ethiopia’s readers and editors to become 2015/16 Soccer Ethiopia’s female Person of the Year. The center forward arguably had a great season. She scored 57 league goals as Dedebit was crowned Ethiopian Women Premier League champions. Loza also bagged 6 goals in the FIFA U-20 Women World Cup African qualifier when Ethiopia narrowly missed a spot in the U-20 World Cup. Loza netted goals when Ethiopia bundled out of the African Women Nations Cup qualifier at the hands of Algeria. Loza accepted her accolade from Soccer Ethiopia’s executive editor Omna Tadele. “The award serves me as a motivation to work hard and be a good player,” remarked the striker.
