Ethiopian delegation headed by State Minister of Foreign Affairs Hirut Zemene visited Moscow for ministerial consultations on December 12, 2016. Hirut Zemene held meetings with Mikhail Bogdanov, Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for the Middle East and Africa as well as with Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov.
The conversation with Bogdanov concerned topical issues of Russian-Ethiopian cooperation in various areas. The parties confirmed the mutual intention of Moscow and Addis Ababa to expand trade and economic cooperation, including through major joint projects in Ethiopia, and promote links in education, science and advanced technology.
In view of Ethiopia’s election as a UN Security Council non-permanent member for 2017-2018, the ministers discussed a range of issues on the international and African agenda, including making progress on conflicts at an impasse in Africa.
