Ethiopia Bunna has only one win in seven matches and sits twelfth in the standings with seven points. They currently don’t look like one of the better teams in the league much less a title contender. Now the club’s supporters, who already were questioning the appointment of Serbian head coach Nebojsa Vucicevic, are up in arms after the team tied with Diredawa Town at home. Their defensive line has given up nine goals in seven games. No longer are they showcasing dominating ball possession. Clubs with much less tradition are passing them by despite having one of the league’s stronger defensive midfielders in Gatoch Phanom and record breaking play maker Elias Mamo in the mid field.

Vucicevic had handpicked Nigerian striker Samuel Sannumi, who once netted 22 goals to earn top scorer of the league honors. This year, however, he has only scored once. Yabun Williams has been a pleasant surprise, coming off the bench to score three times. After a season opening 3-0 defeat to Dedebit, throwing away a 2-1 lead to settle for a draw with Mekelakya, another home draw with Adama Town and a shocking home defeat to new comers Fasil Town and a goalless draw with Diredawa last weekend at Addis Ababa stadium, supporters are uncertain if their team can win against smaller sides. As a result many are calling for the Serbian’s dismissal.

“We are not even talking about beating our arch rivals we are no more a side to be feared even with smaller teams. In the club’s history we have never been this bad so I insist that Vucicevic be sacked,” a prominent Bunna supporter remarked. Despite the decline in results no one among the high officials appeared bold enough to come to the forefront and try to say something about why the club’s performance or their results have been declining.
