Getaneh Kebede dreams of recapturing the Premier League title for a second time and breaking the 17 year old record held by Yordanos Abay. The striker returned to Ethiopia after four years in South Africa to join Dedebit FC. However a mid season transfer and injury have slowed his progress.  The former Ethiopian Premier League Player of the Year and top scorer told reporters he was close to breaking Yordanos Abay’s 22 goal record twice but was foiled by an injury and  trial match call from South Africa both times as the Premier League season was ending.

Now after scoring nine goals in nine games Getaneh’s dream appears within reach  but a transfer deal to foreign club at the end of the first round is already in the works.

“Things are progressing although I don’t know when and where,” the striker who has led Dedebit to the top of the standings said.
