There are rumors that two coaches might get sacked at the end of the first round fixtures. A game in hand, an Ivorian central defender soon to be paired with former Saint George Ugandan international Issac Issende, Hawassa Town’s head coach Wubetu Abate might survive the axe and could be appointed to the national hot seat and if so his assistant Mulugeta Meherety is at hand to replace him.
With eight defeats in a row and a long time camping at bottom of the table with nine points, many were surprised to observe Addis Ababa Town head coach Seyoum Kebede still managing the club. When news about unrest among players was discussed at the start of the season, Seyoum came out strong to discredit the sources. Therefore Seyoum has no one to blame this time except himself for the poor results so it should be a miracle to survive from the sacking.
The other neck on the line belongs to Ethio-Electric’s Berhanu Bayu. When the former Electric winger in his third season led the team to the Addis Ababa City Cup championship many expected a great days ahead. However, despite millions splashed on new players Berhanu is struggling to survive once again. But critics suggested he is more likely to go home sooner before the start of the second round. Insiders suggested the decision makers are divided as some hope new signees could help the team in the second round.
