The Addis Ababa City Roads Authority (AACRA) has awarded five road construction projects to five local contractors.
The projects that will be undertaken inside the capital city will cost over 878 million birr.
The 3.1 km first lot of the Ararat Hotel-Kotebe Metropolitan University-Kara road project will be constructed by General Contractor Direba Deferesha at a cost of 274 million birr. The contractor is expected to finalize the project within 900 days.
The second lot of this project that will connect Kotebe Metropolitan University to Kara will be 2.84km and will be constructed by Tekeleberehan Ambaye Construction at a cost of 261 million birr. The contractor also has 900 days to finish it.
In the contract agreement signed on Friday February 10 Yemane Girmay General Contractor agreed to construct the 1.04km road connecting Civil Service University area to Gurd Shola. The contractor has awarded the project at a cost of 69 million birr and is responsible for finishing the project within 240 days.
United Consulting Engineers plc, which is popular in road project consulting throughout the country, will consult on all three projects.
Senane Construction was also awarded the 3.4km road project connecting the recently completed condo site, Bole Arabsa to Ayat Condominium. The project that will be undertaken within 16 months will consume 195 million birr. Beza Consulting Engineers will provide the consulting service.
Ethio Tebib General Contractor agreed with AACRA to construct the asphalt road in Kuye Fiche 2 at a cost of 79.6 million birr.
The 1.4km road is expected to be finished in one year. All projects are being financed from government funds.
