Abandoned is a painting exhibition by Tesfa Solomon that opened at the Alliance éthio-Française on February 20, 2017. The exhibition shows the painter’s fascination with donkeys in Ethiopia and explores how they are being treated.
For 10 years, Tesfa has been observing and painting everyday local life happenings and for his exhibition “Abandoned”, he saw through the treatment of donkeys in the city, another image of the workers of Addis Ababa.
He makes the point that a few people see the hard working people that are doing minimal jobs that are impactful and who raise the city, just as those donkeys that have been left behind transporting the materials necessary for the construction of the country.
Tesfa Solomon graduated from the Addis Ababa Fine Arts University in 2007. He is a modern-style painter with contemporary concerns. Inspired by the aesthetics of the TV screen and postimpressionist painting, he acquired an original and personal style.
His exhibition will stay open at the Alliance éthio-Française until March 7th 2017.
