The only Ethiopian among the 30 squad members, El-Entag El Harby SC striker Oumed Oukri is tormenting the 18 side Egyptian Premier League season. Five league goals and Egyptian Cup double strikes, seven-star Oumed is now a prominent player for the club that joined the upper tier in 2009-10 league season.
Back to Egypt for his second spell, the former Mekelakya and Saint George target man is anxiously awaiting a call from his former coach at Mekelakya: the newly appointed Ethiopian national team boss Ashenafi Bekele. Though the 26-year-old’s play the start of the season appeared gloomy due to sheer determination and a tolerant coach these days he is consistently referred to as a life savior; scoring important goals to help the side float above the relegation zone. Oumed scored five league goals including the golden opening goal in the dream 2-1 victory over mighty Zamalek. Currently seven points clear of relegation zone with 21 points from twenty matches, El-Entag is 13th in the league table and Oumed is their number one striker and just enjoying the big support from home fans as well from the coaching staff.
Being one of the few coaches to stamp their print on Oumed’s early football life, Ashenafi has the best of knowledge to use the fast forward striker in his build up for the coming qualifications. Salhadin from the left and Oumed from the right with Getaneh at the center, the trio could be an envied deadly strike force which could be huge plus for Ashenafi’s build up.
