The 5th Construction for Ethiopian Renaissance Exhibition was opened at the Addis Ababa Exhibition Center on Thursday March 16, 2017. Overall 143 companies working in construction participated. Six small and medium enterprises from Southern Nations, Nationalities and People’s Regional State and the Amhara region also participated in the event.
The exhibition which was officially opened by Engineer Aisha Mohammed, Minister of Construction will be open to visitors until March 20.
Construction students from Addis Ababa and Unity universities also used the experience as a practical lesson.
“This is important because it shows what the country can do in the construction sector and it provides information to stakeholders. We have been doing well to improve the industry but we need more quality professionals,” the Minister said.
Mulugeta Gessese, Board Secretary and General Manager of – Association of Ethiopian Class One Contractors, the entity that organized the annual exhibition, agreed that getting quality professionals is still a challenge.
“The sector makes up a large part of the GDP and creates jobs, we just need to develop more skilled workers,” he said.
