A specialized exhibition focusing on packaging, petrochemicals, printing, plastic and paper, Ethio5p, will be held from April 29 to May 2 at the Addis Ababa Exhibition Center, and is expected to attract 100 participants. The organizer, Chemical and Construction Inputs Industry Development Institute (CCIIDI), held a press conference to promote the event. Dayessa Leta, Deputy Director General of CCIIDI said this is a good opportunity to show the world Ethiopia’s potential in these major business areas.
“Packaging is a major industry and the country has a lot of potential to expand. It is a material that Ethiopia allocates a lot of hard currency to import for manufacturing production.”
Yonas Abate, Plastic and Plastic Packaging Director of CCIIDI, said that the exhibition will be a networking opportunity for people working in the industry throughout the world.
Aklile Belete, General Manager of ShakCrux, the organizing company, said that 67 participants will come from abroad for the exhibition which is being held for the sixth consecutive year.
CCIIDI will facilitate a forum on the sidelines of the exhibition.
Dayassa said that the institute wants to develop all 5 p’s but is mainly focused on petrochemicals.
To develop natural gas in Ethiopia’s Somali region the country plans to develop agro input chemical investment, according to the officials from the institute.
