Hero turned villain Zemariam fired

“A hero turned villian” Fasil Towns Zemariam W/Giorgis became the eighth head coach to get the boot from back this season. After six defeats in nine games, including the humiliating 4-0 home loss to Ethiopia Bunna in the second round, pressure from  Zemariam was too much to bear . His replacement Mentesenot Getu clichéd a 2-0 home victory in his debut match against visitors Arbaminch Town.

It is amazing how come fast surprising Fasil Town’s dream season turned into such a shamble. Zemariam was seen as  the region’s hero for steering the team to the upper tier as champion of the Super League and he was among the brightest young coaches in the league. However, his home record was less than impressive despite having a fan base almost as strong as  Ethiopia Bunna and Saint George. When he returned from serious medical treatment in Bangkok, things got out of hand and fans turned on him especially after losing to bottom feeder Addis Ababa Town.

Zemaraim, who is shy in front of reporters is shy in front of  reporters he  claimed his departure was due to a medical check-up in Bangkok.  However sources close to the club said fans criticized his tactics which focused on offence.  “He is arrogant and is out to impress the big guys in Addis Ababa at the cost of our club,” remarked one supporter who believes Zemariam’s plan was to get a job with the big clubs in the Capital.

A game in hand Fasil Town is sixth in the standings with 38 points.
