American based Kassaye Arage’s return home is stirring speculation that he will be the next boss of Ethiopia Bunna. Now club supporters are questioning if he will be given enough time to make the team into his mold.
According to sources close to “The Brown Shirts” Kassaye’s return to Addis Ababa and the sacking of Gezahne Ketema was not a mere coincidence. “Nine wins seven draws and two defeats is a more than humble record for Gezahne who took the hot seat despite having no experience in coaching at this high of a level. There were only three matches until the end of the season so the least the club could have done was to let Gezahne stay until the end,” a fan said. “I am sure Kassaye will have a strong behind the screen say over the remaining matches,” the fan added.
Kassaye is a popular former midfielder and coach. He led the side to the championship title match so he is fan’s number one choice. However, Bunna fans are notoriously impatient and many coaches have not survived their contract periods. Kassaye is soft spoken but comes with proven football success. He focuses on ball possession and his teams have played entertaining football. Despite the attention, Kassaye has kept quiet about the situation.
