Woldya, Coach Negussie Desta part ways


Woldya’s head coach Negusse Desta left after two seasons despite helping the club survive in the Ethiopian Premier League. Though Negussie stated that he left the club for health reasons, rumors on social media are suggesting that he was sacked from the club for his unsatisfactory achievement in the league season.
Whatever the story behind his departure, soccer fans believe that navigating the turmoil to help the club to finish seventh in the table and making it survive in the upper tier is something to celebrate. Nevertheless according to those that claim being insiders, the club officials felt his result was way behind their expectations. “The team should have achieved more using what huge resources in terms of players’ salary and incentives. Finishing far seventh twenty five points behind the champion and a knock-out semifinal place is by no means satisfactory,” argued some ardent supporters.
Negussie who thanked the club officials as well the town mayor is said to join back his former club Dedebit for his second spell. “Dedebit won the premier league title for the first and last time under Negussie Desta therefore a red carpet welcoming ceremony is awaiting him there,” remarked one senior player. In other news Woldya dispersed a 500,000 Birr prize for the players.
