Hawassa: tormenting the winter Players’ transfer window

Though its head coach Wubetu Abate is suspended for one year, Hawassa became the most active team in the recently opened Ethiopian Footballers transfer window siagning not less than twelve players in the very first week.
For the only regional club to win the coveted Premier League title Hawassa had its worst ever season and is now going through a rebild. Sources close to the club disclosed that because the relationship between Wubetu and his assistant coach Mulugeta Meheret is very strong Mulugeta is at the very center of the transfer campaign and the club officials are fully in support of the buildup.
Five players including team Captain Desta Yohannes and the Togolese goal keeper Sosoho Mensa extended their contract for the coming two years each pocketing close to two million Birr. Play maker Tafesse Solomon, wing back Daniel Derebe and central defender Addisalem Tesfaye are the notable players that put pen to paper.
The former Dedebit and Ethiopia Bunna mid fielder Ghanaian Gabriel Ahmed and his partner at Ethiopia Neged Bank Fekremariam Twoldeberhan are the new faces that joined the former champions. An exodus from Ethiopia Bunna saw three players to join the sea side town Hawassa namely defender Wondifraw Getahun, and striking partners Sadik Secho and Yabun Williams each penned down a close to two million Birr contract for two years.
“With Wubetu Abate’s suspension likely to be lifted after six months following an appeal from the club, Hawassa is going to be the strongest title contender in the coming new season,” one former player suggested.
