The Hub of Africa Fashion Addis Week (HAFW) with the continued support of Vogue Italia /Talents held its sixth annual international fashion week on October 5 and 8, 2017.
This year’s two-day runway event took place at the Addis Ababa Exhibition Centre. Panel discussions, master classes, presentations and a pop up shop were featured at Sapphire Addis Hotel. HAFW had a line-up close to thirty-five participating designers, international models, and fashion makers from across the African Continent. hub-of-africa-2
The event was attended by the influential Melissa Drier from Women Wear Daily magazine and Vogue Italia / Vogue Talents were scouting for talents to take to Milan Fashion Week 2018. Since inception in 2010 HAFW has been able to assist in the transformation and development of the continental fashion industry. Fashion must be thought of in business terms and HAFW has endeavored to connect emerging and established designers with buyers, manufacturers, distributors and investors enabling the continental fashion industry to reach its potential.
This year’s event featured designers such as Adama Paris from Senegal, Anyango Mpinga from Kenya, Mustafa Hansannil from Tanzania and Palesa Mokubung from South Africa, among others.
Designers list from Ethiopia has Ayni’s Design, Eden Asbeha, Ejig Tibeb, Fetel Design, Lali and Mafi among others. Up and coming designers, such as Nigisti and Enzi, also showcased their works throughout the week.
