Ethiopian Women U-20 crushed out while U-17 called in to camp

With a 4-3 aggregate defeat at the hands of neighboring Kenya, Ethiopian national U-20 Women side is kicked out of 2018 World Cup qualification campaign. Newly appointed U-17 head coach SelamZeray called in her 36 members squad in to camp in preparation for 2018 World Cup final qualification campaign.
Although many admired head coach TheodrosDesta for building a humble side in a short time, he was also criticized for throwing away a costly 2-0 lead until the final ten minutes to settle for a 2-2 first leg home draw. Nevertheless, Kenyans, by far better prepared than their counterpart Ethiopian side, dominated the second leg in front of passionate home supporters crushing the visitors with a 2-1 win after an early opener through Corazone Aquino only to be cancelled out by MirekatFeleke’s equalizer at the nick of first half whistle from the penalty spot. The heart breaking goal came early the second half after a self goal from custodian TigistAbera. With the 4-3 aggregate result Kenya goes through the second qualification against the continents’ Women soccer heavy weight Ghana in the second round two leg qualification.
In the meantime KidusGiorgis’ head coach SelamZeray who took the hot seat at the National U-17 Girls and was assisted by Bezuayehu Wada from LidettaSud City and goal keeper coach WubshetDesalegn from Ethiopia Bunna kicked off preparation as of last Saturday. The 36 players’ squad about to be cropped to 24 at the final days, faces neighboring Kenya in a two leg qualification showdown with the first leg to take place at the final week of this month.
