Electric takes Mekelakya in City cup group match on Monday

The defending champion Ethio-Electric in pole position takes old rival Mekelakya in the group “B” final matches on Monday to get through Addis Ababa City Cup 12th edition semi finals while the premier league champions Kidus Giorgis entertains invited guests Adama Ketema.
The only remaining government institution run premier league football club: (Medin and Water Sport relegated while Muger Cement and Neged Bank dispersed) Electric takes the driving seat of the group with four points from two matches. A 1-0 group opening victory over Adama Ketema followed a thrilling 1-1 draw with Kidus Giorgis Electric needs just a point to book a place in Thursday’s semi final showdown. “Unlike the previous seasons this time around our team appeared more or less balanced and we plan to go further in the event” head coach Berhanu Baye told reporters. Just a point from Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Adama Ketema, Mekelakya must win Monday’s encounter to join the last four.
In the mean time the Addis Ababa City cup four times champion Kidus Giorgis takes visitors Adama Ketema in a decisive group match. Two points from two draws: the last match against Electric on Thursday thanks to Adane Girma’s equalizer after coming in from the bench. The Horsemen are in a win-by-all-means showdown against visitors Adama Ketema with a single point from two matches. Signing five of the best talents in the league plus five foreigners in the squad, the Portuguese head coach Carlos Manuel appears not to be in a hurry to exhibit his stock pile.
