Signing ceremony of the EUNIC charter for Ethiopia

A signing ceremony of the EUNIC (European Union National Institutes for Culture) charter for Ethiopia was held at the Embassy of France in Ethiopia, on October 20, 2017.
In presence of the head of Delegation of the European Union, the charter was signed by Spanish and Portuguese ambassadors and by the heads of European cultural centers in Ethiopia (Ethio-French Alliance of Addis Abeba and Dire Dawa, Goethe institute, Italian Cultural Institute, British Council).
EUNIC is a cultural network created in 2006 which intends to promote cultural diversity and mutual understanding across cultures, through the development of common cultural projects and stronger partnerships, based on the founding values of the European Union.
Through this EUNIC cooperative agreement, EU countries intend to develop further their commitment and activities in the field of culture in Ethiopia.
The establishment of a EUNIC cluster in Ethiopia will strengthen the dialogue and the mutual understanding, through cultural activities, between European countries, the European delegation and Ethiopia. This cluster will act in close coordination with the EU Delegation to Ethiopia, and the efforts of the cluster are supported by EUNIC Global Office in Brussels in terms of financial and communication support.
