Seventeen Djiboutian professionals graduated after a one year training in air traffic control courses at the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority (ECAA).
According to the statement that ECAA sent to Capital, the graduates have taken two consecutive Air Traffic Control Courses, namely basic aerodrome ATC and approach ATC.
The courses are offered on the basis of training service contract agreement signed between ECAA and Djibouti International Airport on the 15th of July, 2016 to provide the client with aviation training service.
The trainings were conducted by the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Training Center. The center is ECAA certified Training Center that acquired ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS full membership.
“As part of the commitment of the Ethiopian government for enhancing aviation manpower capacity, the training center is made to acquire different state of the art aviation training equipments,” ECAA said in its statement.
“As a result, today’s graduates have been trained by a modern 3D ATC simulator having Radar, ADS B and CPDLC functionalities,” it added.
According to the statement, courses commenced on October 10/2016 and included classroom lessons, practical simulation exercises and on the job training. Accordingly 17 Djiboutian trainees managed to successfully qualify for graduation.
The graduates are fully competent to take up all aerodrome and approach responsibilities.
“This graduation marks the beginning of advanced cooperation between the two sister countries in further realizing safety and efficiency of air transport in the sub region,” the aviation authority said.
ECAA has been provided similar trainings for Somaliland professionals. ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS membership that it acquired recently has created the opportunity for ECAA to provide similar training for professionals that come from every corner of the world.
