Ethiopian parliament approves amnesty law

In its urgent meeting held on Friday July 20, the Ethiopian parliament approved an amnesty law.
The law grants amnesty for individuals and groups either under investigation or convicted on treason, crime against the constitutional order and armed struggle.
The Council of Ministers endorsed the law last month and referred it to the parliament for approval.
The parliament passed the law with only one abstention.
The parliament also approved the appointment of eight members of the Ethiopian Press Agency Board
