Commercial Banks takes title after full domination PDF Print E-mail

Thrashing ESSEX to an emphatic 3-1 cup final victory, Commercial Banks’ women side crowns the 2012 Addis Ababa club championship title. Shetaye Sisay takes both best player and top scorer of the season award for the second time, previously with Yeka Sub City women’s side.
Two goals from the Sisay sisters Shetaye and Bezunesh, Commercial Banks win the season’s title collecting 24 points that is six points above runner-up ESSEX. Although one of Addis Ababa’s strong side Dedebit’s walk out in mid season denied the championship its color, the rising strong soccer force Commercial Banks dominated the five sides’ two rounds fixture without a single defeat collecting 24 points. Buying out the side previously belong to Central College two season’s back, Banks take the title for the first time and in flying color. Banks’ striker Shetaye Sisay wins best player of the year award for the second time this time along with top scorer’s award for a record 31 goals tally. Out of total 61 goals Banks scored Shetaye grabbed 31 while her younger sister Bezunesh Sisay scored ten goals. Banks head coach, Berhanu Gizaw takes best coach of the tournament award for the fifth time. In the mean time women footballers signing fee is getting momentum with Zuleika Juhad’s and Tiruanchi Mengesha’s move to Banks from Defense Force. According to sources the two players both also national teamers received 60,000 Birr for two years contract. Dedebit and national team attacking midfielder Birtukan G/Kristos was the first Ethiopian women player to take home last year record 35,000 Birr.
