Unions save over 52 mln. Birr
Savings and Credit cooperative Unions in Amhara State have saved over 52 million birr during the fiscal year which ended last month, the State Cooperative Union Promotion Agency said.
Agency public Relations Expert Mulualem Kokeb told ENA that some 1,751 saving and credit cooperative unions were able to save that amount of money.
Around 348 savings and credit associations, which were established last fiscal year, were able to save 26 million birr.
He added that 45,200 female members of the associations saved over 42.2 million birr.
The expert said they have saved almost 80pct more than last year and now their capital has reached 33.8 million birr.  The associations are working to fight against poverty, he said.
