Book Expo continues this week’ May expand to twice a year

The annual book exhibition “Reading for life” was opened on Wednesday at the Addis Ababa Exhibition Center. The exhibition will go on for six days and displayed books will be discounted between 25 and 35 percent.
The exhibition which is being held for the fourth time now is organized by the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Youth and Sport and the Reading for Life Project.
Around 200 publishers, universities and media organizations are able to participate in the exhibition this year.
“We are considering making the exhibition twice a year and all over the country,” said Tibebu Belete the Communication officer of the project. He also said that there are ongoing talks with the MoE to encourage reading sessions in the class rooms.
In the exhibition there are well known authors which meet with their fans and there are also children’s books sections.
More participants have come this year, 60 additional organizations participated and a large number of readers have come to purchase books.
