Selemon Barega’s Astonishing Victory

Olympic 5000m champion Selemon Barega of Ethiopia demonstrated his class, winning his pet event by nearly 10 seconds over his nearest rival, clocking 12:56.19. Barega beat Thierry Ndikumwenayo (13:05.24) of Burundi and world champion Muktar Edris (13:06.54) of Ethiopia into second and third place.
Rising international athlete Selemon dominated the much anticipated Paris Diamond League Men’s 5000 meters category. Following his amazing finishing style he clocked 12:56.19 to win the day relegating Burundian athlete Thiery Bdi to second place ten seconds behind. Thierry finished in 13:05.24hrs.
Muktar Edris, Ethiopian Athlete and 2017 and 2019 world champion in the distance, finished third in 13:06.54. Another Ethiopian, Addisu Yihune, finished fifth in 13:14.40 hours.
