Huawei Ethiopia Recognized as Platinum-Level Loyal Taxpayer

for Third Consecutive Year

[Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – October 15, 2024] In a prestigious ceremony held at Friendship Park, on 10th of October 2024 Ethiopia’s Ministry of Revenue celebrated the achievements of the nation’s most loyal and highest taxpayers for the fiscal year that ended on July 7, 2024. Among those honored, Huawei Ethiopia was recognized as a platinum-level taxpayer, an esteemed acknowledgment reflecting the company’s commitment to compliance and contribution to the national economy.

The event, presided over by H.E. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, witnessed a gathering of government officials, business leaders, and stakeholders dedicated to fostering a culture of tax compliance and economic growth in Ethiopia. Huawei’s CEO, Michael Liu, proudly accepted the award on behalf of the company, marking the third consecutive year Huawei has received this prestigious recognition.

In his acceptance message, Huawei Ethiopia CEO Michael Liu expressed his gratitude, stating, “We are honored to be recognized as a platinum-level taxpayer once again. This achievement reflects our unwavering commitment to Ethiopia and our dedication to supporting the country’s economic development. Together, we can build a brighter future and further strengthen our partnership with the Ethiopian people.”

This year, among Chinese corporations with operations in Ethiopia, Huawei proudly emerged as the number one taxpayer, contributing the highest amount of taxes, significantly leading the pack.

Huawei’s contributions extend beyond tax payments; the company has been instrumental in providing telecommunications infrastructure and technology solutions that enhance connectivity, ultimately benefiting communities across Ethiopia.

In the ceremony the Ministry of Revenues awarded 550 loyal federal taxpayers in the 2023/24 fiscal year categorized under Silver, Gold, and Platinum.
