Over the years, Ethiopia’s financial inclusion rate has steadily climbed, reaching 46% in 2022 according to the World Bank’s Findex report, with over 150 million transaction accounts, including 60 million mobile money accounts. However, the National Bank of Ethiopia has set ambitious goals to close this gap, aiming for 70% adult account ownership by 2025. The digital financial market in Ethiopia is brimming with potential, yet it faces notable challenges. With over 120 million people, many of whom lack access to traditional banking services, Ethiopia’s untapped market for digital financial solutions is vast.
