The track, whose title means “sun” in Amharic, blends traditional Tigrigna rhythms with contemporary alternative R&B sounds, creating a unique sonic experience that pays tribute to Ethiopia’s rich musical heritage.
Timed to coincide with Ashenda, the vibrant cultural festival celebrated by young women in northern Ethiopia, “Tsehaye” captures the festival’s spirit of resilience and unity. Its lyrics tell the story of a man waiting for the return of a loved one, with a central theme of hope expressed through the question, “Will she rise like the sun before tomorrow comes?”
