Agricultural project creates 400 jobs

The Dano Agro Processing Center was officially inaugurated. The project, undertaken by Menschen fuer Menschen Foundation (MfM)  has been established in Oromia Regional State, West Shewa Zone,  in Dano  230km west of Addis Ababa.
According to Menschen fuer Menschen the project is fully funded by the German Government through its Green Innovation Centre for the Agriculture and Food Sector program, implemented by GIZ GmbH.
Their work will include animal feed processing, honey production and processing, oil seed cleaning and processing, vegetable production and trading and improved seed introduction and threshing services.  So far, the agro-processing center has created decent employment for over 400 youth.
The agro-processing center in Dano has been built as part of a holistic approach to promoting employment opportunities for youth in the area.
To establish the Dano Agribusiness processing center project 1.04 million Euro invested and the project includes installing machineries, conduct training, purchase different production inputs and provision of start-up capital.
“The primary objective of the project is to increase production and introduce agro-processing that have high potential in creating job opportunity for youth,” the statement of Menschen fuer Menschen added.
Including higher federal and regional government officials, Menschen fuer Menschen board of directors, GIZ representatives and community members, more than 500 people attended the official opening of the center.
