Sebeta tops 1st round Super League Group “B”

Sebeta, which is the only unbeaten team, finished the first round on top of the Group “B” table in goal differences while Ethio-Electric was threatened by a shocking away defeat to remain five points behind the leaders.
Sebeta’s dream of returning to the upper tier appears to be on the right course as the team is so consistent that it finished the first round with six wins, five draws and no defeats. The record shows that Sebeta has a strong strike force. They have scored 17 goals and their defense has conceded only seven. They beat Woldya at their house even though their goaltender was red carded 23 minutes into the game. Sebeta should be promoted to the Premier League.
Second in the table in goal differences Legetafo-Legedadi is a strong contender for promotion. They boasted an impressive record with seven wins, two draws and two defeats. Legetafo’s has a strong defense. They have only given up seven goals. However, they to stay on course they need to improve their offense.
Ethio-Electric was expected to be among the strong promotion contenders until it faced an upset at the hands of 5th place Wello-Kombolcha. Critics suggest that three defeats in the first round were costly. It will be hard for them to turn things around unless a more determined and organized Electric appears in the second round. Five wins, three draws and three defeats Electric is third with 18 points.
The Federal Police sits fourth with 17 points followed by Wello-kombolcha (16), Woldya (14), Gelan (14), Dessie, Burayu and Akaki each with twelve points and Axum in relegation zone having 11 points. Amhara Water Works is at the bottom of the table with just six points.
