Amhara region hospitals get oxygen centre

Amhara Regional State inaugurated a new Oxygen Center in Bahir Dar on April 4, 2019, in the presence of President Sahlework Zewde, Amir Aman Minister of Health and Ambachew Mekonnen president of the regional government.
A partnership between General Electric Foundation and Grand Challenges Canada, the new center is to avail affordable and reliable medical oxygen to the region.
Part of the strategy Safe Surgery 2020, the plan is to help strengthen and build standard of healthcare and build the healthcare infrastructure in the area. The Amhara Regional Oxygen Center is expected to alleviate part of the oxygen shortage, which is said to be a debilitating problem for the country.
