Losa Aberra heads to Malta

Ethiopian women’s league all time highest scorer Losa Aberra signed a contract with Malta Women’s First division defending champion Birkirkara. She became the second Ethiopian next to Dagmawit Mekonen to join a European league club.
Many women soccer fans believe that Losa Aberra has an extra ability than most of her contemporaries playing in Ethiopian Women league. But the argument was why she happened to be stranded in local league. Here comes the fruit of hard work for Losa’s trial at the Malta club ended in success.
The twenty year old deadly striker from Southern Ethiopia, Durame travelled far away from home to star in a European Women’s League where Brazilian World Champion Ronaldinho was almost to sign a contract before hanging his boot altogether in 2018.
A professional football club based in Birkirkara, the largest town on the island of Malta, the club signed Losa as the first foreign footballer in the squad. The four-time Ethiopian Women’s league top scorer, Losa had had trial experience in different teams including Turkish side Antanay Sport and Swedish Kingsbaka last year. When she returned to Ethiopia she joined Adama Town to lead them to their first league title.
According to Woldu Keberet living in Sweden, Losa’s five weeks stay in Sweden could have turned out a success for the striker. “Had she been with the side starting from pre-season she could have won a contract,” Woldu suggested.
