Ministry launches digital mapping

The Ministry of Transport has launched a digital mapping, the first of its kind in the country, in a ceremony held at the Hilton hotel today.
The new technology, which is believed to play a significant role in improving the transit system in the country, was launched in Addis Ababa the presence of Dagmawit Moges, Minister of Transport.
Experiences of Kenya’s Digital Matatus and Cairo Transport Authority were employed to launch the system, which helps create information about the public transport in the capital Addis Ababa city.
The data of Addis Ababa light rail, Anbesa city bus, Sheger public transport and minibus taxi services were collected and compiled into the new system.
The Ministry also plans to expand the technology to secondary cities in partnership with regional states and World Resources Institute (WRI).
