Tigray biggest derby match on Monday: Mekele entertaining Welwalo

Match day five Ethiopian Premier League new season biggest showdown takes place on Monday bringing Mekele SebaEnderta to ahead on clash against Welwalo-Adigrat. Fearsome strike force Mekele against solid defense Welwalo is the biggest derby match of the weekend fixtures.
Breacking Sidama Bunna’s 19 matches unbeaten home run after 2-1 victory, the defending champion Mekele appeared to show some consistency on their way to retain the title. The combination of 2018 top scorer Okiki Afolabi and last year top scorer Amanuel G/Kidane in the attack means a good chance for fans that are in demand of goals.
But forget not the match is against Welwalo that boasts the strongest defense line in the league conceding just two goals in four matches. Therefore sure the Tigray derby match between the two rivals to be full of dramas.
Though missing a fourth successive win after clumsy home performance against Jimma AbaJifar last week end, Welwalo is one of the most consistent side so far in the season boasting an effective strike force that comprised of Semere, Naganjibo and Kemuyeni scoring eight goals among them. A highly effective attack against a leaky Mekele defense that conceded six goals in four matches might be an intriguing encounter worthy of watching on Monday at Mekele international stadium.
It is not only a derby match between Mekele and Welwalo but it is also a huge derby match between the two coaches Gebremedin Haile and Yohannes Sahle rumored to have no love lost between them. Gebre striving for unprecedented third premier league title while the former Dedebit, Mekele, Diredawa Coach Yohannes Sahle still looking for his first one.
