St George is busy in players’ transfer market

Though it is hard to predict the future of both the local and international football, Ethiopian Premier League record champion St George is revamping its squad. Determined to bring back the Premier League title in to the capital after four years, St George signed two star players while renewed contracts for three players.
Despite only two of the 16 Premier League sides reported settling every financial obligation to their respective players, some clubs are participating aggressively in players’ transfer market.
Sidama Bunna’s most famous striker Addis Gidey and Adama Ketema’s renowned midfielder Kenaan Markneh each handed a two year new contract. Helping Sidama Bunna to become football strong force in the past three seasons, Addis was considered the most valuable players under head coach Zeray Mulu. Twice league season top scorer runner-up, no one expected Addis to part with his beloved side Sidama after five years with the club. Addis’ signing means St George would have a fearsome strike force even without injury prone Salhadin Seid.
Formerly with Addis Ababa University and Addis Ababa Ketema before returning to his boyhood side Adama for the past two seasons, the attacking midfielder famous for scoring number of decisive goals for Adama, is said to be the right answer for long time problem of St George midfield.
Also in the news is the contract extension of three big name players including former international striker Getaneh kebede. Twice Ethiopian Premier League top scorer of the year Getaneh would be paired with young Abel Yalew who also signed a two year contract extension. Defender Henok Adugna is also handed a two year contract extension.
