AMISOM supports a school in Gedo region to boost education in Somalia

The African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) has handed over learning materials to the local administration and management of Gherille Primary School in Gedo region, Jubaland State of Somalia, to boost education in the area.
The donated items include desks, plastic chairs, office tables, wooden blackboards, office filing cabinets and stationery, provided by AMISOM under its Quick Impacts Projects (QUIPs), with the support of the Italian Government.
The items were handed over by the Deputy Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission for Somalia (DSRCC), Simon Mulongo at a ceremony attended by the school leadership, parents and local leaders as well as senior AMISOM military officers.
Mulongo explained that AMISOM undertook the project in order to boost the education sector, which he noted is critical for the development and stability of the country.
